Why teach about Mongolia?

If you want your students to understand the world, studying Mongolia will give them an essential perspective. Because it has a small population and a lot of land, it has managed to continue to facilitate good lives for those who live traditionally. In the Mongolian example, students can see both modern urban lives and modernizing traditional lives in a way that is more difficult to see in countries with larger populations and more crowded conditions.
Mongolia, suffering disproportionately from climate change and with severe urban pollution problems, also offers a window into issues that every nation faces.
There is not a lot of material available about Mongolia that is useful for teachers, especially for elementary and middle school. I have gathered the best material I can find and will update it monthly as new resources appear. I hope to also continue to update this website to include more information and to keep it up-to-date for your students.
